Chocolate and Banana Tiffin

I made these for Neil as they are one of his absolute favourite goodies. He kept coming buying a version from the garage and to be honest they were a bit of a tooth buster so I decided to devise my own! These are crunchy, biscuity and covered in thick chocolate with lovely banana flavours in every bite. Store them in the fridge and take them out ten minutes or so before you eat them. Warning, they don’t last long!

Ingredients

150g butter

30g caster sugar

2 tablespoons golden syrup

200g biscuits – I used digestives

100g dark chocolate

200g milk chocolate

1 banana – chopped

1 tablespoon chopped hazelnuts

1 tablespoon raisins

Method

Grease and line a 20 x 20cm tin.

Melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan over a low heat.

Crush your biscuits into crumbs, mix together with the raisins and press into your tin to form a base.

Put in the fridge while you melt the chocolate. I do this in short bursts of a few seconds in the microwave stirring in between each burst but you could heat and saucepan of water and put a mixing bowl over to melt if you prefer.

Remove base from fridge, slice up your banana and place on the base and pour over the melted chocolate.

Leave to set for 2 hours.

Cut into triangles and watch them disappear in a flash.
