Last year we went to a wedding on a beautiful little Greek island called Agistri. It really did feel like walking into the setting of Mamma Mia. Agistri is a small boat ride away from Athens and is an absolute hidden treasure.

We stayed at a little boutique hotel and were met by some of the friendliest people who had made us homemade treats and ouzo for our room. Every morning we were greeted with a homemade breakfast of freshly ground coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, warm bread fresh from the oven with homemade honey and jam followed by thick, creamy greek yoghurt with honey and walnuts and ice cold platters of fresh fruit.

When travel resumes I would recommend a trip to this little island. It is fairly established with quite a few restaurants and bars but still unspoilt. There are literally only a couple of taxis on the island.

The restaurants are all overlooking the water and serve fresh fish and seafood caught that day. You’ll be tempted to try things you have never tried before as everything is so delicious. It is the most relaxing place to just sit and watch the world go by with a chilled glass of wine looking at the sunset.

On the way home we used the same taxi driver who dropped us off to the port to pick us up and take us to the airport and he had brought us a breakfast of fresh pastries and coffee as it was early morning and he thought we may not have had a chance to have anything bless his heart. Where would that happen!
